Volunteer work

Most cooperatives composing the Unimed

System encourage volunteer work among

their publics. The figures show that Unimeds

understand the importance of support, inas-

much as business volunteer work provides

the necessary environment and tools for the

employees to be able to serve with their time

and skills in the community benefit. In 2014,

among the 231 Unimeds reporting the indica-

tor, 62.34% informed that they organize and

encourage their employees’ volunteer work,

while only 6.93% reported not to encourage

volunteer work.

Campaign “Eu Ajudo na Lata”

The campaign “Eu Ajudo na Lata” counted on Unimed cooperatives participation and

collected 15 million aluminum seals along 2014. This campaign appeared after we iden-

tified the need of making available an engagement action which might meet the yearn-

ings and possibility of participation of all employees, even those unable to participate

in a formal volunteer work program. Focused on the incentive to collect aluminum can

seals, the valve collected with the sale is reverted to the purchase or wheelchairs or oth-

er types of items providing accessibility to persons bearing special needs.

Among the Unimed cooperatives which participated in the “Eu Ajudo na Lata”, there are

Unimeds of Alto Vale, Blumenau, Brusque, Campinas, Centro-Oeste Paulista, Chapecó,

Curitiba, Goiânia, Grande Florianópolis, Leste Paulista, Londrina, Metropolitana do

Agreste, Norte Fluminense, Piracicaba, São José dos Campos, São Roque, Vale do Piquiri

and Vales do Taquari e Rio Pardo, besides Federação Minas. In the campaign first edited

in 2013 37 wheelchairs were donated. For further information about the campaign and
