Rational water consumption; Efficient energy use; Solid residues management

Care with natural resources and its conscious use must be present in our daily actions, both at home and at work. In order to sup-

port Unimeds in this awareness with their relationship publics, Unimed do Brasil guides the implementation of and makes avail-

able the Conscious Consumption campaign seeking to raise the awareness of cooperative employees, members and beneficiaries

about the importance of keeping the Planet healthy and balanced for future generations. Going beyond, Unimed do Brasil offers

support material for awareness actions on commemorative dates, such as the World Water Day (March 22) and the Planet Hour

(March 29).

In 2014, a panel at the National Sustainability Gathering was also dedicated to the topic “Water, what are the challenges within the

next 10 years and their impact on health” with speakers representing Associação Brasileira de Recursos Hídricos (ABRH) and Asso-

ciação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental (ABES). The workshop was attended by 99 Unimed representatives, directly or

indirectly responsible for the environment topics management at cooperatives.

Aiming at a higher management of environment topics at Unimeds, the Confederation inserted new indicators in the Unimed Social

Balance, and as from 2016 it will be able to quantify the environment results already existing among cooperatives. Some of the new

indicators inserted in the new Social Balance version are in the following table.
